How it works

A vending operator with machines in several cities and counties collects sales tax at many different rates. The rate of a machine depends on its address, and whether a snack or a drink is taxable depends on the rules of that state.

Done by hand, this means a spreadsheet with one column per city, rates copied from state websites, and a long evening before each filing deadline.

Vending Tax Desk keeps every machine with its location and the rate that applies there. You enter or import sales per machine, and the service splits them into taxable and exempt sales under the rules of each location.

At the end of the period you get one report: sales, taxable sales and tax due by state, county and city. You check it and file the returns yourself.

When a rate changes at one of your locations, the service shows which machines are affected, so the next report uses the right rate.

The service prepares figures for your returns. It does not file returns, give tax advice or act for you with any tax authority.
